I’ve had my eyes on both this Oak and Palm grove for some time now. Oh man, it was sooo cold this morning. I took a few shots but I'm saving some of these trees for later. The grass under the palms is absolutely luscious. Come to think of it, I should see if there is a climbing tree to shimmy up and shoot down into the maze of grass. My kids are already asking to go back and roll in it.

The ghosting image is a composite of two photos. I did several ghosting images in camera but it was becoming rather difficult with the cold and tripod jumping out of the picture halfway through the 10 second exposures. I read an article on another photographer's site regarding her feelings on age and art. She is a young adult who has enjoyed the lavish praise of being so gifted at a young age. The article outlines her disappointment over some comments regarding her age felt, by her, to be of negative nature. These are the equivalent of sketchbook pages for some ideas I'm trying to work out. I slid out into my backyard and did a few shots with these twisted tree roots, then tucked the images safely away on my computer. I love these hills and valleys full of Manzanita shrubs and swirly yellow grass. A few days ago we sat here and listened to the wind until the sun dissolved and the bats came out. Just a lovely spot of land.

I'm just amazed all these humongous pinecones held so firm to the branches during a fire. It was like 100 degrees out on a blazing afternoon so it really added to the mood while there.
