  1. Enjoyed your photos and comments about Old Helena. I used to live just a few miles from there -- hiked the area often. Native Americans lived there for thousands of years before so-called First Contact. The Old Helena Cemetery is nearby, just across the North Fork from what remains of the town -- a lot of its graves date back to the mid-1800s. Almost the entire Schlomer family (one of the town's founding pioneer families) is buried there. The town was named after Helena Schlomer.

    1. Thank you so much for all the tips. It's such a beautiful location. We went swimming up the road from here. I hope to make it back one day (i"ve since moved) and look for that graveyard.
